We closely follow the developments of this neoprene manufacturer and use their advice, amongst other things, to create this top-of-the-range product. YAMAMOTO
PEAKS Azul wetsuits are made from YAMAMOTO neoprene. Yamamoto neoprene is a high-quality, warm and flexible rubber foam made from limestone. It is used as a wetsuit material by the world’s best triathletes and swimmers. The comfortable YAMAMOTO neoprene feels like a second skin.
SCS
SCS is a special surface treatment of chloroprene rubber with independent air bubbles, whose SCS micellar structure repels water in the air but mixes with the water in water to create a surface mechanism that reduces drag to almost zero. The surface drag is less than 1/10th that of conventional neoprene and 1/100th that of conventional neoprene in water. It is a high-quality material that has revolutionised the feel of wetsuits.
The SCS also ensures the suit is supple and comfortable to put on and take off
The SCS treatment on the inside ensures a very smooth glide against the skin and makes putting on and taking off the suit a breeze. Unlike jersey (fibre), it dries quickly, so there is no discomfort from dampness when putting it on again and the skin always feels dry, even after repeated putting on and taking off. SCS dries very easily, has low thermal conductivity and better heat retention, is stretchy and tension-free.
SCS significantly increases speed. The ultra-low drag underwater massively boosts swimming speed. The suit is designed for swimmers and triathletes to meet their high demands for speed. The wetsuit remains lightweight as its weight is not increased by water. Stretchy and stress-free. Eliminates heat loss through evaporation and reduces fatigue. This means our suits deliver the fastest swim times with the least fatigue. Tests show an energy saving of 12.5% to as much as 25% compared to other top wetsuits from other brands.
Aerodome
Our PEAKS Azul features Yamamoto Aerodome in key areas. This is Yamamoto’s internationally patented material, which features numerous air holes evenly distributed across the rubber surface. It can be used to reduce the weight of the material. Applying this material to rubber also increases buoyancy by trapping air in the air holes and improves heat retention thanks to the heat-insulating effect of the air bubbles. AERODOME is primarily used as a material for triathlon wetsuits.
